2014 FIFA World Cup Visualized in Tableau – Group G Outcomes

If you cried as much as I did as the U.S. Men’s National Team settled for a draw against Portugal last night, then you’ve probably spent your Monday pouring over the slew of scenarios for the last match against Germany on Thursday.

Nate Silver and his team at FiveThirtyEight wrote a great article on the different scenarios in which the U.S. could advance to the Round of 16. I thought this would be a great opportunity to visualize all the different scenarios in Tableau. After all, the U.S. could be depending on some help from CR7 (Cristiano Ronaldo) and his Iberian teammates if the German machine proves too much to handle.

The viz lets you enter the expected scores of each game and see the resulting Group G winners. A big shout out to Ryan Garfi for helping me to create this. Click the image below to be taken to my interactive visualization:
