Reset Administrator Password on a Quickbooks Company File
There can be several reasons to reset the administrator password on a Quickbooks company file. For whatever reason, here is the way to reset the password.
Before getting started it will be beneficial to have the following item at hand:
-The Version of Quickbooks you are using.
-Product License Key for Quickbooks.
-The location of the Company file of which you are resetting.
Here are the steps on resetting the password:
-
Browse to the following website via Quickbooks support: http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/PasswordRemoval.aspx
-
Fill out the form on the website.
-
Once you click submit an email will be sent to the email entered in the form.
-
This email will include a TOKEN number that will be used in the validation process of resetting the password and a link to a downloadable executable that resets the password.
-
Open the email and notate or copy the TOKEN Number.
-
Click the link to the executable.
-
Once downloaded you will see a form that asks for the TOKEN, Company File Location, Two fields to confirm the new password.
-
Fill out the form accordingly and click submit. You will see the Verification Process run and it will notify you of successful reset.
-
Once completed, you will be able to log into the Quickbooks Company file with the New administrator password.
Keep in mind that if you have multiple Company Files needing to be reset, you will have to use this process for EACH Company File.

resetting multiple company files - question
I am trying to reset the admin password on multiple company files. The process described above works great for one file. But, the token number only works one time. You can't reuse it for other company files. And, if you start over and complete another form - you keep getting the same token number emailed to you.
Anyone know a way around this issue?

Frustrated at pathetic password recover tool
The Automated Password Reset Tool is only downloadable if you provide a US or UK based address, that really really stupid. Sell the product all over the world but only provide support for two countries.
