CHALLENGE:
As a support organization for the charter schools in Albany, NY, the Brighter Choice Foundation (BCF) assesses school operation in an attempt to encourage positive student achievement outcomes. To help implement their innovative model, BCF needed to consolidate data from multiple sources in a way that would make it easier to do standard reporting and trending analysis using Tableau.
SOLUTION:
InterWorks BI team evaluated the client’s specific needs to track student achievement and operational effectiveness across a network of charter schools – proposing a small data warehouse to store information from disparate data sources – creating ETL logic (Extract Transform Load) – leveraging Microsoft SQL Server Integration Service (SSIS) to automate data loading and utilizing Tableau Software to create visual/interactive information dashboards.
RESULTS:
InterWorks’ BI services have added a needed sophistication not only in how BCF collects and analyzes data, but has also upgraded how BCF shares and displays data with a cutting edge and user-friendly format. With reports that previously seemed impossible to create before this project, BCF is now equipped to ensure Albany is a shining example of how a system of high-quality choice-based schools can transform an urban public education system.
